Commissioning a work of Art is really quite simple.
It is a joy to work with someone who is prepared to spend time and their hard earned money on a new work of Art. A great deal of “heart” goes into its conception and the creation process should be fulfilling for both Sculptor and Patron.
Robert likes to have a meeting preferably in the place where the work is going to be exhibited so he can get a feel of what is required and a better understanding of his Client’s needs and budget.
Once all is agreed then the deal is struck with a 50% deposit allowing materials to be bought and third parties paid. Many clients like to see how the work is progressing and some have a time scale, for example a birthday. It must be said that the lost wax process takes at least six weeks so a three month time schedule is usually needed to be on the safe side. For larger works Clients may have to wait longer. These matters should be discussed at an early stage.
